Valdez, the northernmost port in North America that is ice-free year round is located 300 miles from Anchorage through some of Alaska’s most scenic driving routes. 

Valdez is also accessible by sea on the Alaska Marine Highway ferries crossing Prince Williams Sound from Whittier.This is one of the most important ports in Alaska being the end point for oil carried from the Trans-America pipeline from Prudhoe Bay in the Acrtic Ocean.
